In 2018, China’s crude oil processing capacity and apparent oil consumption both exceeded 600 million tons, and dependence on oil was as high as 70%. Also, in 2018, China surpassed Japan in natural gas imports and became the world’s first largest natural gas importer with an external dependence of 45.3%.
