2020

On June 23, 2020, the last beidou-3 satellite was successfully launched, so far, the deployment of beidou-3 global navigation satellite system composed of 30 satellites has been completed

There are more than 7500 satellite navigation related enterprises in China, with more than 1100 new registrations in 2019. The number of copyrights and patents of satellite navigation related software reached 1600 and 4000 respectively.

On March 9, 2020, China successfully launched the 54th Beidou navigation satellite through the long march 3B carrier rocket. The satellite has successfully entered its intended orbit.

Beidou system construction has experienced three stages: Beidou No.1, Beidou No.2 and Beidou No.3. At present, all four Beidou-1 test satellites have been decommissioned. From the first star of beidou-2, China has launched 54 Beidou navigation satellites. Beidou-3 system is composed of 24 medium circle earth orbit satellites, 3 geostationary orbit satellites and 3 tilt geostationary orbit satellites, a total of 30 satellites. This is the 29th networking satellite launched, which plays a key role in satellite based enhancement, short message communication, precise single point positioning and other characteristic services.

2019

16th December, 2019, China launched successfully the 52nd and 53rd Beidou satellites

23rd November, 2019, China launched successfully the 50th and 51st Beidou satellites

As of September 2019, the Beidou system has officially provided services to the whole world, including 21 Beidou-3 satellites in orbit: 18 in the central orbit, 1 in the geostationary orbit and 2 in the inclined geosynchronous orbit. In 2019, another 5-7 Beidou satellites will be launched, and 2-4 Beidou satellites will be launched in 2020. By then, the construction of Beidou Global Navigation System will be completed in an all-round way. The Beidou system will be the core of China’s navigation, positioning and timing system. In the aspect of new technology integration, Beidou will integrate with Internet of Things, 5G, big data, etc.  providing meter, sub-meter, decimeter and even centimeter-level services.

2018

In 2018, the total output value of China’s satellite navigation and location service industry reached 301.6 billion yuan, of which Beidou contributed 80% The related output value of satellite navigation derivatives reached 194.7 billion yuan. There are about 10,000 enterprises and institutions in the field of satellite navigation and location services in China, and about 500,000 employees. It is estimated that the scale of China’s satellite navigation industry will exceed 400 billion yuan by 2020.

By the end of 2018, the application scale of various domestic Beidou terminal products has totaled more than 80 million units, and the total social ownership of terminal products using Beidou compatible chips is close to 700 million units. There are more than 6.17 million road operation vehicles, 35.6 million postal and express vehicles, 80,000 buses in 36 central cities, 370 transport official vessels, nearly 60,000 fishing vessels, 3230 nuclear navigation facilities, 2960 marine navigation facilities installed and used or compatible with Beidou system.

The total sales of domestic satellite navigation and positioning terminal products exceeded 530 million units, including 390 million smartphones with satellite navigation and positioning system, 4 million terminals in automobile navigation rear-loading market, 4.5 million terminals in automobile navigation front-loading market and 5 million terminals in various types of monitoring. In 2018, more than 60% of smartphones sold domestically supported Beidou system.

At present, the Beidou system has covered nearly 30 countries of “one belt and one road”, which are applied to the industrial, agricultural and service industries. China’s satellite navigation and positioning products have been sold in more than 100 countries around the world.
